5 from 5 Great kit and fantastic pedal

Easy build and very effective/versatile mid booster in front of an amp. You can fatten a single coil guitar boosting lo mids or make your sound sharper boosting hi mids.

5 from 5 Great pedal from a nice kit

Ordered the kit with a drilled enclosure; it was complete an easy to assemble.
I use it for both boosting mids in front of the amp or scooping mids in the FX loop of an amp.
The Sweep control together with the Lo/Hi toggle to select the sharpness of the filtered mids band is very useful and makes a compact single band parametric EQ.
A very good alternative to the quite expensive Haunting Mids pedal.

5 from 5 A mids dream

This is a clone of the JHS Haunting Mids, a single band parametric EQ designed for tweaking mids.

Very handy little pedal, easy to build as there are not so many components. The SWEEP (frequency) pot spans ~350Hz/7KHz, with 800Hz at noon. The HI/LO switch (tight/borad Q) is well crafted as well. When used to boost mids (around 800Hz), this pedal gives a very satisfying thickness to the tone without sounding harsh. So this works great to cut through the mix for a solo. You can also get a radio effect by boosting around 1kHz (SWEEP at ~2 oclock) and lowering the overall volume. Could also be used to clean up the low mids of muddy humbucker pickups... Lots of possible use cases, really.

I built mine with a fitting ghostly theme: white GORVA enclosure, black pointer knobs, and purple LED.

One slight inconvenience: The kit did not come with appropriate insulating pads for the SWEEP stereo potentiometer. This pot is thicker than regular pots, so it can easily come in contact with and short the solder pads from the PCB. Its back is not flat so the regular sticking pads would not stay on. I put some electrical tape on it instead. Not pretty but it ~works. Not worth removing a star, though.
