Description

The Echo Nightmare is a dream come true for everyone who likes to experiment with lo-fi delays, ambient noises and crazy fuzzes, all in one box. With seven knobs and two switches, we can assure that this is definitely the tweakaholics dream!

This circuit allows you to build such a versatile pedal capable of experimenting with different shape of waveforms, slapback or self-oscillating feedback, you can even use the modulation and fuzz sounds with the delay or on their own, just by flicking the dry switch, making this circuit way more versatile than any other delay pedal.

This kit contains the PCB and all necessary parts. The enclosure can be selected, please select 7 knobs for 6,3mm shaft separately.

5 from 5 Echo Madness

Great kit, sounds immense, Musikding support were really good with communicating a delay in the XR2206 chip and once I received it I was able to complete the pedal.

5 from 5 Works perfect!

Good and easy to build kit. Very pleased!

5 from 5 Great lo-fi modulated delay

This circuit, by design, can be very noisy at high settings. It is perfectly silent and the repetitions are cleaner when the delay time control is set somewhere in the first half of rotation.

possible mod :

I added a 3 positions switch with diodes on the fuzz pot pads, to clip the signal or not when the fuzz is engaged. pos1= 2x Bat41+1n914, pos2= two 3mm leds with one germanium diode D9E, center position = no diodes. I used pin 1 and 3 on the pot pads.

I give five stars because I honestly feel like there are better modulated delays outhere, but this one do the low fi thing very well. You can hear a whole factory working when you set most controls fully CW.
The Feedback is a big thing on this circuit, the most powerfull one I ever heard, very usefull on many instruments. I believe many interesting sounds can only be made by this circuit.

I tried it with a synthetiser, digital piano, bass, guitars and it is very well calibrated to work with these instruments, from my experience.

5 from 5 Jadore

4 from 5 Great for lo-fi

Even though I was expecting something largely lo-fi and noisy, the noise of long delay times (> 100 ms) and high sensitivity of the feedback knob is immense (provided that I have assembled the FX correctly):
- unless it is in the slapback mode, the delay is very noisy.
- self-oscillations are coming after 1st quarter of the feedback rotation
I guess it would be great if one could have a switch towards the lo-fi regime.

5 from 5 A cave in a pedal !

A nice sounding kit, easy to build even for beginners.
The excellent components makes the difference, very close to the original DBA.
Don’t hesitate…
Thanks to the musikding team for their serious job…

4 from 5 It is not a bug it is a feature.

I ordered this pedal mid january and when it came two pots were missing. I tried to complete the design with pots I found in the local shop, however they didnt have the exact same pots and I had to adapt. That did not go well as one of the two pots was faulty and there were no more in stock. So I waited for musikding to send me the missing pots and I finished the design a month later.

Overally a difficult build because of the number of potentiometers and switches that have to fit the box. Only problem I had was that a couple of screws were very hard to screw fully.

At first I thought that the design is buggy. Feedack after 12 oclock has serious stability issues. Also modulation in high settings is jumping pitch too much. After research I found out that the original has the same behaviour. It seems it is a feature even though it is hard to believe.

I would suggest a bit bigger box in order to have room for labels. Also documentation was a little bit confusing as the mods that are required seems to be implemented on the PCB version I got
