Description

The Acapulco is a power amp distortion/overdrive based on the power section of a cranked vintage Sunn Model T. Dynamic playing, good reaction on the guitar.

This kit contains all parts you need to build a fully functional effect pedal. Also very useful:

Not included in the kit, but also good to have:

  • Aluminium enclosure: select one on the top
  • 9V battery or DC power supply
  • 1 nice knob for 6.3mm shafts
  • Decal, transfer or transparent sheets for labeling

5 from 5 Spitting stoner/doom machine

Easy to build. Nice distortion/fuzz collapsing sound. Sensitive to guitar volume/tone. Many tones in one knob box!

4 from 5 Great stoner doom tones

Really easy to build and it sounds surprisingly good. I wasnt expecting anything useable for this price, but this pedal actually nails some perfect stoner doom tones. And under the right circumstances, you can hear radio through it :) Maybe its just LM386 thing, maybe my poor soldering skills, but it can be solved by adding a battery clip.

5 from 5 Un super son ! Very great sound !

Exactement le son que je cherchait ! Facile à monter. Sans aucun doute les 16 euros les mieux dépenser depuis longtemps! Bravo à l’équipe !

Exactly the sound i was looking for ! Easy to build. 16 € very well spend ! Thanks to the team!

4 from 5 Real nice kit for beginners

This kit is perfect for beginners, few pieces but al kinds (caps, resistors, chips, plugs, switch, pots...) , good to begin understanding electronics.
plus, sounds awesome when finished.
detail: the switch pcb has input and output inverted, out on the right and in on the left, i spent like 1 hour wondering why it wasnt working. i just was plugging it reverse -_-

5 from 5 Super easy and good sounding!

The kit is really easy to build, just about an hour of work. The sound of this distortion is raw and crude but very musical - exactly what I was looking for. You really dont need anything else but the volume knob.

5 from 5 Sounds massive!

Quite an easy build, easy enough for beginners if you know how to identify components from the schematic.
And boy does this build sounds massive.

5 from 5 Excellent first build

This is my first build and in fact my first dabble in electronics since I left school 25 years ago. The documentation is pretty easy to follow. Youll have to use your brain a bit to compare the components on the parts list to the schematic and pcb diagram. Not difficult. The wiring diagram was just as straightforward. I managed to complete the pedal in around 2 hours, but I was being extra cautious. Soldering the components in was relatively simple and I had no issues. The wiring was a little more fiddly, as was installing everything into the enclosure. I think in future Ill change the order in which I do things, but thats not to say the order outlined in the instructions will not work for you. The pedal worked straight away and actually sounds better than I expected. Its the first pedal Ive used that legitimately sounds - and more importantly feels - like playing though a loud overdriven (or more accurately - distorted) amp. I like the simplicity of the single knob. It does get quite noisy past 12 oclock, but that could be my soldering/wiring. Ill troubleshoot these issues after I gain more experience. Overall, Id highly recommend the Acapulco.

5 from 5 Easy and great!

It was my first build, I easily did it despite my poor soldering skills and the result was great! A lot of distortion with huge volume.
I really recommend it for the price and for the easiness of making it.

5 from 5 The Acapulco

I already had an Earthquaker Devices Acapulco Gold bought new. This kit sounds BETTER! I didnt put it in a stomp box. I INSTALLED it right into the amplifier. The on/off switch is a toggle and mounted on the face of the amp. Drilled a hole and put the volume knob in it.

It also sounds great!
