Description

The Quantum Defrakulator is a drone synthesizer with 3 square wave oscillators and one LFO (low frequency oscillator). Each oscillator has independent controls for frequency and volume. With the LFO engaged, oscillator 1 turns into a 3 or 4-step sequencer.

Nice toy, easy to build

The kit is very easy to build, with good components.
At the end, its a funny toy, a very basic synthetiser, may be a pedagogic object to learn how to use more complicated synths.

Great kit

Quick and straightforward to build, though Im glad I went for the drilled enclosure. The constructed synth is basic but very fun - it would be good to have a pot for resonance control, but fitting it on the already busy enclosure would be a headache. Ill probably add the CV jacks - they (plus drilling for them) should be an ordering option.

Nice little synth

First off, Id like to point out how positively surprised I was at the quality of the kit. Everything was there, including pre-cut wire (stripped at the ends) and all resistors were also marked with a note of their respective values. I bought the drilled enclosure as well, which is a steal for that price and saves a lot of trouble for everyone.

Building it was delightful, and the whole thing sounds good for the price. Sure, its not a fully-blown drone synth that youll use in each composition from now on, but if the soldering is part of the fun for you, this is very much worth it; and playing around with the Quantum Defrakulator MK3 is great fun, too.

If youre thinking about soldering something more complicated and expensive, you can try if this is really your thing with this DIY kit and have a nice little synth to show afterwards, too.
