Description

The Refractor is a clone of one of the most legendary overdrives of the last 20 years.

The kit contains the parts for the original and the Silver Pony version.

This kit contains the PCB and all necessary parts. The enclosure can be selected, please select 3 knobs for 6,3mm shaft separately.

This project is by Aion Electronics, in collaboration with Musikding. If you have any problems with the contents of the kit, please contact Das Musikding (Klaus). Since the modifications require some basic knowledge, this project is rather for more experienced builders.

Not so easy to build, but sounds great!

It took me about three days to assemble (slowly). Resistors in the kit are well marked, cannot say the same for capacitors (besides electrolytics) and care is needed to identify them properly. Supplied electrolytics are on the cheap Chinese side, however this does not seem to affect the sound. This pedal sings! I could even get my strat to feedback at bedroom levels. I have used BAT41 diodes for clipping (two other kind of diodes supplied). Dont have another Klon/Clone to compare, buy to my ears this kit sounds awesome. Overall 4/5

Superbe overdrive mais...

Il sagit de ma troisième pédale DIY, toutes commandées sur Musikding dont la qualité de service est excellente.
La construction de la Refractor nest pas simple - beaucoup de composants - mais avec minutie on y arrive sans problème.
Côté son, jai un problème : elle génère beaucoup de souffle. Ayant le même problème avec mes 2 autres pédales DIY (phaser et chorus) jai changé létain pour celle-ci mais jai autant de souffle. Jai ce problème uniquement avec les pédales DIY, les autres ne génèrent aucun souffle. Je pense quil sagit dun problème dalimentation électrique mais si quelquun peut maider pour méviter de changer mon alimentation (Harley Benton) !!

Would have been 5 stars if I were more experienced in building.

First kit i ever assembled and it was an adventure for sure.

Spent 20 ours fault-tracing, ruining some parts of the 3dPt pcb only to find out that the only actual error was wrong tab connected to out jack.

Had to hardwire stuff but got it working perfectly. Fun!!
