5 from 5 FV-1 based reverb and multi effect : a bit disappointed but it does sound good.

After the Unison chorus and Hydra delay that I really like, I was curious about this Fv-1 circuit.

I have an other digital reverb multi-effect : Oceans 11 from EHX, so I can compare both.

Oceans 11 does everything better, but the controls are harder to memorize. Spatialist is much simpler to use and sounds quite good, but it feels a bit more digital and artificial to me than Oceans 11. The reverb decay sounds a bit automatic and unrealistic to my ears. I have learned that there are some simple reasons to explain it.

The three first mods, Room, Hall, Chamber, are quite similar with some variations with the controls range (depth, lenght).
A Spring emulation mod would have been interesting too, there isnt one.

I think FV-1 has its limits, but if you can understand that, and if you are ok with a beautiful reverb that sounds a tiny bit more artificial than some other digital circuits, you should be pleased.

This build is also the perfect one to add a toggleswitch shorting pin 13 of the smd chip to ground, and access the internal patches. 16 effects instead of 8 ! See this thread for more info :

Soon after this project I built the Gravitation reverb, with a Belton brick (based on three PT2399), and i like it much more...

Spatialist pcb is good quality, building went smoothly, no issue soldering the smd chip, drilled enclosure was perfect. The kit is very good. Thanks to musikding !
