The Termina is a transparent overdrive, designed to bring out the best in the guitar and amplifier. Includes a 2-band tonestack for bass and treble control.

This kit contains the PCB and all necessary parts. The enclosure can be selected, please select 4 knobs, up to 20mm diameter, for 6,3mm shaft separately.

Works as expected

The build was quite straight forward. Had to do some research around the supplied parts. All were there, but Im not experienced with this.
The kit came with a 125B enclosuer but without battery I had no problems fitting it in a box measuring 111 x 63 x 30 mm.
Soundwise it is an overdrive. I do have a Caline Pure Sky overdrive (timmyish) and had no problems dialiing in the same tone. The Termina has broader range in the tonestack and with the clip switch you have even more possibilities. It is quiet.

Great sounding overdrive

I could not compare with the original Paul Cochranes Timmy pedal but this ovedrive sounds very very good, either on its own or in front or behind another overdrive. The three cliping modes are useful.
This kit is easy to build, I realy apreciated pre-sorted/labeled resistors, I just had to make some researches to find the value of some film capacitors.
Second Aion kit I build, surely not the last.

Coup de maitre

Kit reçu avec tous les composants triés et boîtier pré percé.
Facile à monter, c’est mon troisième kit de chez Musikding.
La documentation de chez Aion est très détaillée et simplifie la mise en œuvre.
Deux versions disponibles ( avec tous les composants pour les deux inclus ), une version avec la possibilité d’ajouter un trimpot interne pour ajuster la quantité de basses injectées et une deuxième version ou l’on remplace le trimpot par une résistance afin d’être conforme au schéma originel.
J’ai choisi la deuxième version pour plus de souplesse, car cette pedale permet d’en obtenir deux qui partagent un circuit très similaire ( voir document associé).
En terme de sonorités, c’est très convainquant, elle est presque toujours allumée et explose la plupart des pedales, même haut de gamme que je possède.
Amateurs de sons clean chaleureux ou d’overdrive articulés, foncez !
Le sérieux de Musikding n’est plus à démontrer, je vais en faire d’autres !

Arrived with capacitors unmarked but sounds good.

This is my first ever kit. I really wanted to have Timmy pedal, but its too expensive.

I was very disappointed to see that all the capacitors came with a piece of paper, but empty, no values (every resistor had its value written by hand). So I had to guess/use my meter to find out the values. I say guessing, because for some reason I wasnt able to measure ceramic capacitors, also maybe because I have never done it before. But Its just 2 of them, the smaller - 47pF and the bigger is 100pF.

Honestly for this reason I wanted to put fewer stars (especially if I would have failed to assemble). But I do appreciate new knowledge even if its forced upon me :) And the pedal sounds fantastic.

About the pedal.

I have another holy grail transparent overdrive Hot Cake, original this time, and I prefer Timmy as a standalone between the two. It sounds less piercing, more creamy and more transparent to my taste. Eq on the Timmy pedal helps a lot to set the tone so you can really dial in the amount of bass and treble you want. I have this in the last position of gain pedals, so it can also help to shape the overall tone.

The 3 clipping modes are nice to have though I prefer the standard one (middle position), it has the less amount of compression, and preserves the tone of the guitar/amp. I think this pedal shines in a low gain setting, it can give you that dirty but musical tone, preserving the harmonics. I like how the two pedals stack too, 2 light overdrives can combine into one medium gain setting. Since in total I have 4 gain stages I will still need to find specific uses with the new player on the board, but overall I would highly recommend this kit. Please make sure you have multimeter in case you face my situation.
