Description

The Acapulco is a power amp distortion/overdrive based on the power section of a cranked vintage Sunn Model T. Dynamic playing, good reaction on the guitar.

This kit contains all parts you need to build a fully functional effect pedal. Also very useful:

Not included in the kit, but also good to have:

  • Aluminium enclosure: select one on the top
  • 9V battery or DC power supply
  • 1 nice knob for 6.3mm shafts
  • Decal, transfer or transparent sheets for labeling

5 from 5 Spitting stoner/doom machine

Easy to build. Nice distortion/fuzz collapsing sound. Sensitive to guitar volume/tone. Many tones in one knob box!

5 from 5 Fantastic kit for beginners

Very easy to build, few components, single knob (helpful if youre drilling the case yourself), great sound, my favourite kit so far.

5 from 5 Easy first build

First time soldering, I finished to build this kit in 1 work day. The pedal does what it should do at an affordable price for a beginner.
The only thing I can say as a critic is you can barely hear some FM interference when not playing, and some whistle may occur when the pedal is maxed. Nothing too bad anyway. Im totally satisfied

5 from 5 Great starter kit!

I was impressed with the quality in the kit materials and the documentation. Anyone new to building pedals who is unsure about where to start should consider this one. All the parts come clearly labeled, the PCBs are well designed to work with the components and fit into a standard enclosure, and the English instructions are very clear. Shipped quickly to the US, two weeks from the day of order to my doorstep. I’m looking forward to my next kit from this company.

Also, this pedal is LOUD and the distortion effect is a good one.

5 from 5 La fuzz de la simplicité

Kit très facile à monter, peu de pièces et petit PCB. Très bien pour commencer.
Facile à modder (ajout dun tone) mais gros son et volume sonore important.

Le kit de la simplicité et du gros son.

5 from 5 Love this pedal

The kit is good, instructions are very precise. The effect is a bit fuzzy, but I guess that is the sound of the original.

5 from 5 Relatively easy to build, sounds great

Its my first DIY pedal build. The build process was relatively simple but I did encounter a few difficulties. Though its mainly due to my poor soldering skills.

I was extatic when it turned on and worked on the first try.

It sounds amazing and is really quiet (no hum) considering the amount of gain.

5/5, would build again

5 from 5 Great sounding fuzz

Great sounding fuzz, reacts differently with different guitars. Kit nicely put together in handy plastic bags, all items present. Easy to build, worked fine from the first try. Instead of the provided switch and red LED I wanted to use the switch with LED-ring built in: works perfectly and gives a nice effect together with the single oversized knob.
For my set-up I use only 1/4 of the travel of the knob because the volume is rising and the signal becomes unusable (for me at least), thats the only negative thing I can come up with. But I think the original has the same problem. I do like the nice sound I get out of it and you cant go wrong for the price.
Great communication and service from Musikding when delivery of my combined package took longer than expected (ordered also FilterFX and some other stuff to save shipping costs). Will order again!

5 from 5 First DIY pedal - first success

I was a little skeptical when I tried it for the first time with the guitar because it sounded good/usable only on 2 (everything beyond 3 was almost unusable and beyond 7 it was squealing like crazy) but I tried it with Two Notes Cab M (simulation of preamp, power amp and speaker in one box). But when I tried it with the real amp (Victory BD1) it sounded really nice with a much wider range (only on 9/10 it sounded a little too much for me) and I was enjoying the pedal a lot. One knob but what a sound.

5 from 5 LOUD! (in a desirable way)

This effect is super easy to build - took me about 2 hours from baggied components to finished product with an enclosure I drilled myself (non-matching LED spacing caused me a good bit of trouble).

This effect is LOUD!

We know its based off a cranked vintage Sunn Model-T preamp, so you should expect it to be loud; but I dont think you can really appreciate HOW loud it is until you use it. I played mine through my Orange Terror Bass and it was stupid loud with the knob turned up about 1/5th from 0. Very, VERY loud.

I love it.

Highly recommended.
