A Fantastic Kit!

I see there are not many reviews on this product, so I though Id share my impressions.

First of all, all the parts came in neat zip-lock bags sorted by type, and resistors even had hand-written values on them! That was a particularly nice addition, and saved some time with google searching resistor value chart.

Second, the PCB was produced in a high quality, and was easy to solder. Maybe I just have a decent soldering iron, and maybe it was because I used solder wire with flux already in it, but it was a pretty pleasant 4-hour solder I had.

Third, I did not encounter any problems with the build, since the manuals provided were clear, and I do not really have anything negative to say. It was just as I expected, and a great overall experience...

... of course, if we exclude the incompetency of DHL shipping... thanks to that it took 9 days (not 5-7 as promised) to deliver. Though, that is no fault of Musikding. At least in my opinion.

P.S. Also the compressor works great with bass, and does not do much, but exactly what I need it to do - increases a bit of highs in the tone (for those sweet Tool riffs and awesome harmonies), cuts a bit of negative hiss, and adds some sustain to the note, while also cutting the extensive bass, when jamming some stoner music on E strings high frets.

Compressor

Very transparent sound, with a lot of gain. With the same pcb you can leave some component and build the dyna-version.

Easy, accurate build

This was my first attempt ever at building a stomp box. The parts were easy to fit on the PCB, and soldering went well - despite my old, grumpy soldering pen. Nothing missing in the kit, and the way components were labeled made it simple to lay out where each part should go. The compressor worked well right away.

There will be more builds in the future, without a doubt!

Great Kit - Top quality Boards

This is the second kit I have built from musikding - the first was the Rat. I found both kits exceellent with some nice added extras like labelled resistors and pre stripped connecting wire.
Both builds were straight forward to assemble and worked straight off with no issues.
The Compressor Ross is simple to use and gives a good range of comression as well as adding a pleasant flavour to the guitar tone - I spent a bit of time fiddling with the trim pot, not sure what the optimun setting is but its working for me.
Highly recommended.

Awesome Compressor

This is the second guitar pedal I build. The compressor Ross sounds awesome, it makes your sound fat and compressed but at the same time its transparent and super silent. I built 2 compressor Ross, one for the bass and one for guitar. The footswitch PCB is very useful and it makes the wiring a lot easier. If I can suggest, buying a Helping Hand is a brilliant idea, this little tool is really, really helpful.

A must have!

For me, a compressor is a must-have in your pedalboard, and this kit make it possible bringing to you an easy-to-build pedal that set your sound to an higher level. Not so easy to set up after the building, like every compressor pedal, but very recommended cause when you finally find your ideal setup, it was worth it!

Nice Compressor (english/français)

It was my second pedal and it was quite easy and straightforward to build .
As allways the bags are well organized and the resistors are all labelled .
Its not the most silent compressor but , being of basic use , it does perfectly the job.
I use it mainly for funky rythm guitar and its my most important pedal on the pedalboard ( set aside overdrives).
To try it is to adopt it :-)

P.S. I also built the Engineers Thumb compressor (a much more advanced comp), and I finally kept the Ross for the guitar and the Engineers Thumb for the bass.

Cétait ma seconde pédale . La construction est facile et sans soucis particulier . Comme toujours, les sachets sont bien organisés et les résistances bien étiquetées.
Ce nest pas le compresseur le plus silencieux, mais tout en restant simple ( avec ses 2 uniques boutons) , il fait bien le boulot .
Je lutilise surtout pour les rythmiques funky et cest devenu la pédale la plus importante de mon pédalier (à lexception des overdrives) .
Lessayer cest ladopter !!

P.S. Jai également construit le compresseur Engineers Thumb ( beaucoup plus évolué) et finalement jai gardé le Ross pour la guitare et lEngineers Thumb pour la basse.

Good pedal

It works, and sounds good. I agree with all the other positive comments about the packaging and labeling. Like one other, I also found the shipping and tracking a bit challenging to follow and maybe it was later than originally promised. Musikding might be clearer about shipping time, but its not a big deal.

Good
* Competitive price compared to other kit providers
* The bezel is a nice touch on the LED
* The knobs are not included in the base kit but are worth buying
* The mini board for the foot switch makes things easier to assemble

Room for improvement:
* The 1/4 mono jacks could be upgraded.
* I am still playing with it but I get distortion when I change the left pot while theres sound. I dont know if this is to be expected. There could be more about testing and tuning the board. For one thing, I could not hear the differences explained in setting the trimpot and dont know if thats because I have a bad ear for it or if theres something wrong with my build. Perhaps a video would help.

Overall, its a welcome addition to my board. Its in the customary first position. I tried it in the effect loop as is recommended by some for a Jazz Chorus but I find a different compressor (Orange Squeezer clone) sounds better there. Still figuring out why.
