The Darcadiator is a transistor based (discrete) synthy 8-bit sounding square wave fuzz that can do octave down, pulse width modulation and alternating octaves or stutter.

This circuit works best with high output pickups. It is a gated circuit by nature of the square wave operation. If you are using single coils and need more sustain, try a boost or compressor in front. To improve tracking of the octave down, use your neck pickup with the tone rolled off.

This kit is a creation by Parasitstudio.se in cooperation with Musikding.de. Here´s the parts list: Parts List (BOM)

This kit contains all parts you need to build a fully functional effect pedal. Not included in the kit, but also good to have:

  • Aluminium enclosure: select one from top
  • 9V DC power supply
  • 3 nice knobs for the potentiometer, up to 20mm diameter and for 6.35mm shafts
  • Decal, transfer or transparent sheets for labeling

5 from 5 Cool

Pcb de qualité, montage facile, kit bien pensé niveau conception.
Le son est fuzzy, presque synthétique,, pas souffle, reste maintenant à maîtriser la bête.

3 from 5 Very very fiddly circuit

I could never get it to work like the videos. After a lot of fiddling and replacing Q7 with a 2N7000 (backwards) I got something a bit like the octave going, but its unstable and only tend to work on some notes. I had to replace some of the transistors to get anything not muffled on the output. Even then, a lot of cracking now and then and generally unpredictable behaviour.

Ive of course re-checked and reflowed all solders, and verified a bunch of other things. Its been my most painful and unsatisfactory pedal build so far. Hopefully its a one off...
