Description

The Factory is a clone of a well known boutique fuzz pedal. It is basically an extended germanium fuzz. You can create classic sounds as well as some very unusual sounds.

This kit contains all parts you need to build a fully functional effect pedal. Also very useful:

Not included in the kit, but also good to have:

  • Aluminium enclosure: select one on the top
  • 9V battery or DC power supply
  • 5 nice knobs for the pots, for 6.3mm shaft
  • Decal, transfer or transparent sheets for labeling

3 from 5 Its a good kit, with a bad documentation

Id give this 5 stars... but the build documentation is rather bad. The bags the transistors come in are marked with the wrong codes, there is no manual, so you need to find out by yourself how the pedal works. Since its a rather crazy device, you never know if some things are a feature of a fault in the circuit.
Also if you take the drilled enclosure its a bit hard to fit all the things in, since the jacks and the led have been placed a bit too close together to fit the PCB between them.

Thats my first intent in building my own pedal, and this kit is just perfect : all resistors are hand labelled, build instructions are clear and simple, just keep in mind that youll need some tool to trim wires as there are some short ones required on the pots.

Almost identical. It comes with a big enclosure but probably can fit in a small one. Great product.

The kit is excellent, provided with all the parts which are labeled very neatly. The build documentation is limited, the generic build document doesnt help much (not needed with this kit) but the wiring diagram is very useful. One thing I really missed was information on how to put the transistors on the board. Search the website of Musikding for the transistors and you will find the BCE-diagrams. Then translate that to the schematic and also remember that the germanium transistors (AC125) are NPN, the other transistor (2N3904) is PNP.
Then, when finished, surf to the ZVEX site and get the instruction sheet (only 1 A4) and read how to experiment with the settings without getting completely lost. This has nothing to do with the build quality, but everything with the complexity of the Factory fuzz pedal!
I have found that the effect needs only a very low volume input signal, otherwise you get an extra overdrive effect. I use a bass and also played it with an octave up before the fuzz. This was a bit too much for my liking, so I will add an extra input volume pot to control the effect a bit better.

très bonne fuzz , facile à modifier , j ai rajouté un support pour changer c2 ( j ais mis un 10 nano )
et un switch en // avec 2.2 µf pour jouer de la basse

not exactly the same sound as my original one, but ok, quite the same, fits in a type B enclosure, + a CV control for stab and a switch for different caps values for C2

This pedal is mad - Im really enjoying it and not complex to assemble. It would be nice of they supplied a few test voltages points before inserting transistors but it worked first time anyway
