The Foxx - Octave Fuzz kit

Pédale de fuzz avec un switch permettant dactiver ou de désactiver loctave (supérieur). Très simple à monter et à utiliser. Celle-ci je ne lai pas modifiée mais je nen sens pas le besoin, elle est très bien comme ça. Je ne lutilise quen mode Fuzz/Octave, avec un niveau très modéré de gain, placée derrière une fuzz face silicon (de Musikding). Ça fonctionne très bien, cest très réactif au toucher, ça ressemble fortement au passage de Who Knows des Band of Gypsys, cest un super cadeau quon ma fait.

Bonne fuzz / octave up. Montage très simple, quoi que le PCB est peut être un peu étroit, certains condensateurs nont pas leur place au plus proche du circuit. Je lai pour ma part monté dans une boite type BB pour avoir de la place. Ça rentre dans une boite 125B si on est un peu organisé ;)

Le son de fuzz est plutôt moderne à mon gout. Je trouve les potards peu réactif. Il faut pousser le volume assez loin pour avoir léquilibre dry/wet, et si le sustain est au mini, peu de volume ressort de la fuzz. Le tone est efficace. On tombe vite dans un gain important et la pédale sonne fort ! Loctave est quand à elle monophonique suivant les zones de jeu. Des power chords assez grave sonneront très bien, mais des accords assez aiguës sonneront... il faut lentendre pour comprendre, mais on est au delà du décrochage dune whammy ! En solo, Jack White vient épauler le son ! Il faut noter que moins le sustain est élevé, moins loctave sera présente.

En résumé, je note 4 étoiles pour la taille du PCB qui rend la fermeture de la pédale difficile une fois les composants soudés et linteraction entre les différents potards. La Foxx reste quoi quil en soit une excellente Octave Fuzz. :)



This is a really good fuzz / octave up. Soldering the components is easy but the PCB is a bit small. Some capacitors are above the other components and it can be an issue to close the box. I put the circuitery in a BB type box, but it can fit with a 125B box with a bit of organisation.

I think the sound is a modern fuzz sound. Potentiometers are not really reactive. The volume knob must be really high to have an clean and a dirty sound balanced. If the sutain pot is as low as possible, general volume will be a bit low. The tone is really effective. The gain of the fuzz is quickely high and the pedal can be really loud ! The octave is monophonic, but it will sound differently according to the playing zone on the neck. Low power chords will sound very well with the octave, but high-pitched chords will be awful. This is worse than an old whammy pedal played in chords. In solos, this is like Jack White come and play with you. Its important to notice that the octaves presence is related to the sustain level : More gain, more octave.

To recap, I put 4 stars because of the PCB size and the interactions between sustain and volume controls. Despite thoose points, The Foxx is a really good pedal ! :)

Voici une très bonne pédale de Fuzz, loctave est difficile à dompter au début mais avec les bons réglages on peut faire pas mal de choses.
Bonne qualité et très simple à construire.
Les réglages répondent bien et influencent réellement le son.
Elle sonne exactement comme les pistes sonores que lon nous passent dans le descriptif.
Ya pas à réfléchir si vous êtes fan du Fuzz !

Wollte mir schon länger ein Octave Fuzz zulegen, war mir allerdings nie sicher ob es wirklich was für mich ist. Auf der anderen Seite wollte ich auch schon länger einmal ein Pedal selber zusammenbauen. Hab mich hier auf Musikding umgeschaut und die Specs (v.a. dass der Oktaveffekt zuschaltbar ist), sowie die Soundclips auf YouTube haben mich einigermaßen überzeugt, viel Geld kostet der Spaß ja auch nicht!

Kit bestellt, erhalten, zusammengebaut (war eine lange Nacht, weil erstes Effekt), eingestöpselt und hat schon auf Anhieb funktioniert! Da es meine Erste Erfahrung mit einem Bausatz war, kann ich beruhigt sagen, dass es wirklich keine Hexerei ist. Wer löten kann und sich vielleicht 1-2 Videos auf YouTube zum Thema anschaut, kriegt hier ein Malen nach Zahlen. Sehr nette und verständliche Bauanleitung und Verdrahtungsplan. Einzig wie die Abstandshalter zu befestigen wären, war mir unklar. Jetzt liegt die Platine lose im Gehäuse auf eine Kunststoffstreifen, den ich auf die Deckelinnenseite geklebt habe (viel Platz zum Verrutschen ist aber nicht geblieben im B-Gehäuse). Die Option, das Gerät über 9V Batterie zu betreiben ist da, allerdings sollte man da evtl. ein größeres Gehäuse dazubestellen. Mitgelieferte Drähte sind ausreichend, paar sind mir übriggeblieben. Alles in allem viel einfacher der Zusammenbau, als ich mir anfangs gedacht habe!

Nun zum wichtigsten: Sound! Am liebsten fahre ich Fuzz-Pedale über einen leichten Crunchsound, clean sind mir die meisten Fuzzes (inkl. dieses) eher zu haarig/fizzelig, die leichte Verzerrung vom Amp glättet den Sound. In dem Setting ist dieser Fuzz schön fett, aber nicht übermäßig, es bleibt immer schön musikalisch. Klingt super für Doom/Stoner Rock Sounds! Tone-Regler stelle ich dabei meistens über 2 Uhr ohne Oktave, mit eventuell etwas niedriger. Oktave an und man kriegt einen tollen Leadsound, eignet sich super auch als Soloboost um seinen Soli das gewisse etwas zu geben. Die hohe Oktave klingt sehr melodisch auf einzelnen Noten, bei mehreren angespielten Tönen auf einmal oder Akkorden kanns aber richtig schön glitchy werden. Mit heruntergedrehtem Volume-Poti auf der Gitarre kriegt man auch sehr interessante Sounds, die etwas kaputt klingen.

Alles in allem ein schöner Bausatz mit einem Endergebnis, das sich hören lassen kann!

Spedizione puntualissima. Compontenti accuratamente divisi ed etichettati quando necessario (es. resistenze). Kit perfetto. PCB molto piccola: necessaria molta attenzione e precisione nel fare le saldature.

Great sounding fuzz, easy to build. The Germanium diode are very fragile so be careful (and maybe add some extra to the order just in case). The pots are not PCB mount type, so you can plan different layout, and I think it could be a good idea to have a footswitch instead of a toggle for the octave control.
Very raccomended, great quality for the money!
