Description

The Tube Driver is an overdrive with real tube sound.

With this kit you can build both variants written in the docs. A tube is not included in the kit, due the current tube delivery situation, there´s no option available.

The knobs shown on the photo are not included in the kit. The usage of the 3PDT board is optional, as the space inside the enclosure is limited, free wiring is recommended!

Super conception

Premiere fois pour une pédale à lampe et je suis ignare en électronique
Le résultat est mitigé . Le bon. La pédale fonctionne très bien, aucun bruit parasite. La documentation est bien détaillé, et la conception est très bien pensée pour le boitier.
Le moins : mais je suis tombé dans des petits pièges; il y a quelques différences entre le schéma, la photo du montage et le texte. Les switch fournis sont en plastique lisse et non en métal à vis comme sur la photo.
sinon, la lampe nest pas super semble til. Jai trouvé le niveau de gain assez faible même à fond. Jai mis un 12AX7 chinoise que javais chez moi, et le grain est plus jolie, mais à fond. Je vais commander une lampe de qualité pour essayer davoir du gain au moindre volume.
Donc plutôt bon produit, juste le détail du niveau de gain.

A real tube overdrive!

This tube drver kit is the best overdrive pedal Ive ever had! The gain make it sound like a real Orange or a Marshall amp! Even with a transistor amp! You also can colour the sound with the bass and treble knobs. The LED underneath the tube that lights up the tube looks realy cool! If you dont have the right overdrive sound yet and want a good looking pedal, with a great sound,
I would like to recomment this kit to all creative guitarplayers! It really rocks you!

Perfect tube overdrive.

This must be the best overdrive pedal I have ever used. Period. Great action and headroom with the 12AT7 tube from JJ (which is an excellent tube). Just make shure the poweradaptor you use is of good quality. I first used a multi-voltage-cheap-adapter and the noise it made was unbearable Now it is connected to a 1-Spot adapter and works perfect, no noise...For those who dont get the led in the tube working, make shure R8 is filled on the board, the lower the value the harder the led shines, obviously...

does not work

Le istruzioni non sono chiarissime, ci sono 2 modi per collegare il foot switch e nessuno dei 2 pare funzionare, lunico aiuto dato per capire il PERCHè tale pedale non funzioni, è andare su un forum esterno al sito con una miriade di post che lamentano problemi col suddettto dedale, è il 5 kit che monto sono davvero frustrato

this is the best overdrive Ive ever used.

Assembled without any problems according to the instructions, it is simple and clear.

I assembled a version using 12AX7, which will be discussed below.

At minimum gain, the sound on the transducers with medium exhaust is almost clear, with a pleasant saturation on the highs. At medium gain you get a fat, tasty midrange overdrive with excellent readability and an irresistible desire to play chords in the style of modern British rock. At maximum gain, most humbuckers (even vintage ones) will lock up, and this mode can be used only on very weak singles, or on combinations with parallel connection of transducers. On my guitars (with quite powerful transducers) I dont like the maximum gain mode, medium gain and below looks optimal.

Now for the cons. First: the idea of using this overdrive as a warming pad completely failed with three different tube amps. I really didnt like the sound, it was like sticking a distortion into a distortion. Believe me, the screamer will be much better. Second: the predrilled case does not match 100% with the soldered board. I think this is not a drilling problem, but a soldering deviation problem. The lamp socket on my copy was not centered in the hole and it looked bad. I used thermal adhesive around the edge, which completely hid the gap between the socket and the housing.

Third: as with any simple tube amp, gain and volume are related to each other. In other words, you cant get a very clean sound like on a screamer; at minimum gain, the sound disappears completely, even if the volume is turned up to maximum.

As a result, this is a great overdrive that is easy to build and can be used mostly as a standalone overdrive.
