Description

The U-235 Suboctave Generator is a clean analog octave down effect based around a Phase Locked Loop chip. It has a couple of features that you normally won't find in an analog octave down pedal, such as a detuned output and a voltage control input.

This kit is a creation by Parasitstudio.se in cooperation with Musikding.de. If you have any problem with the content of the kits like mising or wrong parts, please contact Musikding (Klaus) at kontakt@musikding.de. For any technical problem relating to building this project, please contact Fredrik at www.parasitstudio.se.

Here´s the parts list: Parts List (BOM)

This kit contains all parts you need to build a fully functional effect pedal. Not included in the kit, but also good to have:

  • Aluminium enclosure: select one from top
  • 9V DC power supply
  • 1 nice knob for the potentiometer, up to 25mm diameter and for 6.3mm shafts
  • Decal, transfer or transparent sheets for labeling

4 from 5 Powerfull

Great octave down sound, I really love it.
Note in the middle of the keyboard are perfect and I think I will play all my melodied with this effect turned on.

The only problem is that, also with minimum sensivity, with bass notes (first strings and first keys) the PLL sometimes doesnt lock the right frequencies and the resulting output is one octave higher than the expected.

5 from 5 Textbook Analog Octaver

Easy to build, and sounds great.
Bought it with a drilled enclosure and it fitted perfectly
Along with an overdrive makes your tone massive!
Tracks as good as an analog circuit can.
The wobbling effect on low strings ( assuming you use it on a guitar ) is to be expected with analog octavers
It is one of the effects characteristics. Some people like it , some dont. If you dont like it i suggest go to something more digital...

5 from 5 Fantastic Board

The pcb was clearly designed with ease of assembly in mind. No need for long wires going from one end of the enclosure to the other, no need for crazy finger twisting to hold certain things together while finishing the assembly.

The pedal didnt work for me because I accidentaly killed the CMOS chip with static, but I managed to order a replacement chip. I have probed the audio signal and the pedal seems to work up to its very last stage and I am pleased with the sound up to that point so I trust that the replacement will fix it :)

3 from 5 Not for bass guitar

Nice effect for guitar, easy to build but it doesn’t work wel for bass guitar, too much wobbling.
