Great circuit, particularly for a combo build.

I built this over the weekend as a combo along with a simple OD/fuzz on a DPDT switch. On its own, the sound is quite nice with a prominent octave w. the usual caveats of playing up the neck and using the neck pickup with treble rolled off.
However, the effect really comes alive when following an OD/fuzz, creating a singing, aggressive OctaFuzz tone that I like a lot. I recently built a Lizard Queen clone which is based on the same idea (Bass fuzz + pushme/pullyou) and my homebrewed combo pedal absolutely slays it.
