Description

The Death By Fuzz I is based on the first version of the Fuzz War by Death by Audio, a seven gain stage monster nothing related to the current production model Fuzz War II, which has a much more Big muff inspired circuit.

This kit contains the PCB and all necessary parts. The enclosure can be selected, please select 3 knobs for 6,3mm shaft separately.

Nice pedal, but don’t use the 220nf cap for c7

Really enjoying the pedal, has a really nice fuzz that I was looking for. My recommendation is to use the original 680nf cap for the c7 position, not the included 220nf cap that’s on the BOM.

With the 220 cap, the pedal has a severe problem with the attack. If you hit a hard note and stop, the pedal goes completely silent and swallows any rapid follow up notes. It is really frustrating.

MKT 0,68uf on this site is the extra part to order if you want the pedal to work properly.

Do yourself a favour, build something else

this kit is a lot of problems:
-the infos in the manual are wrong, dont switch the Q6 and Q7
-the volume is simply illegal, its too much even if you turn the volume knob by few degrees
-you need to measure the transistors because some may hum(a lot)

The sound is cool, ok but it needs a lot of o work and head-scratching, if you look into DIY pedal groups 1/3 posts are about this pedal because of the problems
nothing to say about musikding they are great!

GREAT HEAVY DOOM FUZZ

Great kit enjoyed building it, good directions....very loud and heavy fuzz -pedal.. like a very extreme Big Muff style fuzz...
beware of volume - goes incredibly loud ....could blow a speaker if not careful. Theres an internal trimpot that adjusts the bias - which changes the texture of the fuzz quite a bit -
I wish this was an external control..as it gives more versatility - I will modify mine to add in an external knob for changing this..
