Guma Antique - Overdrive kit

After building quite a few pedal and amp kits this is so far one of the best sounding pedals. its also the most straight forward build, although it is fairly complicated and a bit tricky in some parts. The instructions are very clear, and well documented. As far as bass overdrive pedals go, this one is highly recommended.

PCB is very well made and it’s quite straight forward to assemble, I wouldn’t say it’s a beginner kit as there are a couple of SMD component and some other are very close. My enclosure arrived with a smaller hole for the switch than needed, so I had to drill it myself. The pedal sounds great, love the blend knob so you don’t lose the low end on bass.

This pedal sounds very good and easy to use.

The pcb is good quality.

Be carefull with the big MKT 1u, next to MC33179, it s too big to fit perfectly with the optional adapter.

This was my first smd soldering test, it went ok once I got tweezers .

I can compare with expensive B3k, both have a lot in common, and this overdrive is really great too.

I suggest to implement a mode to add mids and bass clipping switches, it would be extraordinary welcome.

There is a preamp on my bass, and the Antique reacts very well with it.

Cest simple, il ny a pas de mauvais son !
Il est simple de trouver le réglage qui perce bien dans le mix (même dans un contexte rock avec des acolytes bruyants).
Aucun soufle.
Parfaite avec une basse, merci le potard de mix qui permet de salir le son tout en préservant le grave.

Moins convaincu pour la gratte à moins dêtre en low tuning.

Kit très bien fait et simple à réaliser.
Débutants, attention, il y a des composants de surface. Il faut un bon fer et de bons yeux.

The sound quality does not even come close to the real thing, a lot of noise, weak drive. Utterly disappointed. I think Im gonna stick with Musicding and Aion pedals.

Boiling hot effect, not very easy to build due to the damn SMD components (with the TL074 it sounds very noisy), following the step-by-step instructions everything fits perfectly in the pre-drilled 125B enclosure. That being said, it sounds really good. So far, its the best bass overdrive/distortion pedal Ive built. I would have liked to have the construction diagram as well to better understand its functioning and possibly know where to make modifications. Anyway, I love it.
