Description

The Arcadiator 3 is an insane 8-bit sounding fuzz. It does octave down (one or two octaves), alternating octaves, octave up and pulse width modulation.

The pulse width modulation signal blended with the octave down gives it a retro game'ish sound that brings backs memories of the 8-bit era of videogaming. With all switches down it can also do ear-ripping octave up fuzz.

This circuit works best with high output pickups. It is a gated circuit by nature of the CMOS logic. If you are using single coils and need more sustain, try a boost or compressor in front. To improve tracking of the octave down, use your neck pickup with the tone rolled off.

Product photo is showing the version 2.5 enclosure, version3 now needs only 3 toggle switches. New picture will come soon!

5 from 5 1UP!

Klasse Bitmaschine.

5 from 5 Great kit

The kit is easy to solder. The pcb mounted pots and switches fit well and reduce the wiring effort a lot. Wouldnt say its an beginner kit, since there is not real information how to wire the audio jacks and footswitch, but no problem for someone who already did a couple of pedals.

5 from 5 Great Kit. Great Pedal.

This kit is great and I love the sound of the pedal. The instructions were very clear and intuitive. I did go through a couple of days of troubleshooting and eventually realized my power supply was outputting 13 volts which made the LFO constantly stay on and I got a tad frustrated but, that wasnt any fault of the kit or the design. That was user error. I corrected the supply and it sounds greats. I will definitely consider building more kits from das musikding.

5 from 5 Great

This build was not very difficult, but it took some looking around to figure out how to wire the stompswitch. The drilled enclosure fit perfectly. One small problem was that the dc power jack included in the kit did not fit a standard power connector so i had to buy a different one.

4 from 5 Great pedal

The synth sounds you get with it are really nice, its perfect for exotic leads. It took us 5h to make it, we just made a mistake when drilling the case but it was all fine. The controls are good, the width makes it a nice filter, the oct switch adds a lot. Lfo might require more practice to use it well in a context.
Overall I would recommend it, its my first diy pedal and Im so proud of it!

5 from 5 Super fun noise machine

Great pedal, goes from wild square wave fuzz to batshit disco crazy. Not for everyone but very thrillig for experimentation or working on different textures.

The build was rather easy, the board is well-designed and everything fit perfectly in the pre-drilled enclosure. The parts are all labelled and the kit was complete, CLR included (which was unclear at first). The kit comes with a 3PDT daughter board which makes wiring very easy.

As usual, top quality service from Musikding.

5 from 5 very fun to build and to play with

As a first build, this was not the easiest to start with, but it is a very rewarding one.
I had a few issues with my build, but nothing I couldnt solve myself.
The kit was containing a wrong IC among the 3, but musikding quickly sent me the correct part.
It sounds perfectly funny with my bass, particularly on the highest tones. lower notes are a bit harder to track/trigger, though.
I added a buff’n’blend kit to this pedal - without any further mods on it -, in order to better match the sound of my bass. This is perfect.

I plan on building and integrating the modboard to pulse the PWM effect, or adding some external expression pedal to it.

The PCB itself is very kindly done, components placement is absolutely clean.

5 from 5 The sound of childhood games

Fun and a little bit challenging build even for beginners. Be careful with offboard soldering because you will need space for the wires. The sound is great and there are a lot of options for tinkering with the switches and potentiometers.

5 from 5 Amazing glitchy noise

This pedal is a great little build, very easy to do ( it was my first attempt at building a pedal ), easy to follow instructions and very detailed.
the noise from this pedal is superb, I like to have the blend most of the way over to fuzz, with only a bit of pulsing, its multi level sound gives a lot of scope.
It does not sustain well though, but thats part of the pedals own unique style i guess. The guide states that if youre using single coil pick-ups then a compressor or sustainer before the pedal can combat this, although I have found that using a delay or echo after the Arcadiator extends the cut off enough so as to not sound so abrupt, it also adds a spacey edge to the overall sound...
all in all I love this pedal, it can make some extremely amazing noise.
