Good sounding pedal

Easy to build, good warm sound, easy to use (more playing, less knob twisting :-) ). The components are also OK, nicely described, I didnt encounter any problems. I recommend not only as a first project.

Great Sound

This does exactly what I want it to and it sounds great for such a simple circuit. I too fell foul of the glass diodes, but despite losing a shard of glass, everything still works. I think a line in the instructions about mounting the diodes vertically with a single wide radius bend on one wire would prevent mishaps. The resistors are a little too long for the hole pitch too, so it is hard to get them to lie flat.

That said, I installed the finished article in a much re-used pedal box that had been resprayed and I added a kill switch - foot operated momentary signal to ground. The drive works exactly as an overdrive should - with backed off guitar volume, the sound is clean, but wind up the volume and I get the nice dirtt bite sound that I used to get from my old valve amplifier.

I have not gigged with this yet - we have a rehearsal in a few days and I am going to reveal it to the world then. It responds and sounds a lot better than the built in overdrive effects in my Katana amp.
