Description

The Faux Echo brings the warm feel of an analog delay, able to emulate the classic, big room feel of a tape echo. It is based on the PT2399, and features 4 controls:

  • Repeats: sets the amounts of repeats, up to oscillating
  • Tone: controls the character, from warm and darker to a clearer tone with more highs
  • Level: controls the level of the delayed signal
  • Delay: sets the delay time, up to 600ms

This kit contains all parts you need to build a fully functional effect pedal.

Not included in the kit, but also good to have:

  • Aluminium enclosure: select one from top
  • DC power supply
  • 4 nice knobs for the potentiometer, 6.3mm shafts
  • Decal, transfer or transparent sheets for labeling

Instrument: Guitar Bass
Effect-Type: Mod/Echo

5 from 5 Good product - Excellent support

I bought this set just to try out to build a pedal for the first time.
Everything was included just as mentioned on the website, except one capacitor with the wrong value.
I contacted the support, they responded immediately and sent a new component right away.
The products are good and the support makes it perfect.

5 from 5 Fantastic analog-sounding delay pedal

Ive had my share of delay pedals (EHX #1 echo & Canyon, Mooer Ocean Machine, etc.) and I often have a really hard time finding ones that I like. They always have this digital trying to sound analog vibe that bothers me. Although the Faux uses a digital chip for the delay, it sounds resolutely analog with a lovely amount of grit and a tone pot to shape the high-end filtering.

If I understand correctly, the larger the delay you set with the PT2399, the more lo-fi artifacts appear. At the 600ms setting (delay pot all way up) you can year some small artifacts, that sound sort of like a sampling rate quantisation noise. I find that this disappears when dialing the delay back a little (~300 or 400ms). It doesnt bother me at all, I feel that it gives the pedal a lovely and quite unique character.

As an added bonus, you can get amazing self-oscillating sounds if you set repeats on full ! From slowly evolving repeats (if the tone is dialed down) to mad feedback that retains a nice warm character. I built the pedal inside a BB enclosure and added a momentary footswitch that shorts two legs of the repeat pot when pressed (equivalent to turning the pot all the way up), and I absolutely love the control it gives for ambient guitar music !

5 from 5 Great Sound and great way to start with DIY kits

The whole assembling process was easy and fun and the pedal sounds great. A bit noisy but maybe it is due to the cable lengths (although I kept them as short as I could) but overall a pretty solid delay to be honest.

5 from 5 Very Nice Effect

Generally speaking, despite all the little frustrations during my paint-jobs (my own fault, sorry Faux, apparently too cold at my loft during winter 😟), the missing and/or wrong parts and all the confusion introduced by poor or misguiding manuals I succeeded to construct this nice FX-pedal. Although it must stated that this one was quite clearly explained. My first impression when the project was finally done was: very good sound and no noisy hiss or whatsoever what makea a guitar-pedal interesting (or not).
I deliberately didt compare my attempt with any commercial brand (thats too easy with the obvious hand-built appearance). Maybe even a bit more expensive (at least time consuming), but I am proud to build my own very convincing sounding Delay-padal.

5 from 5 Nice delay

This was a nice kit to build,it is pretty straightforward, using the schematic to find out what components go where may be a bit difficult if your new to building pedals. But just take your time, print out the schematic and cross off every component placed on the board. The extra 3pdt board is really handy and makes for easier/neater wiring.
The end result is a nice sounding delay that goes into self oscillation at extreme setting with a choice of warm or bright sounding repeats. At longer delay setting there is a bit of noise but to me that just adds character.

Take care when soldering.
Great Sound, perfect for me
Thx a lot

5 from 5 Très bon

Beaucoup de composants à souder, il faut être patient, mais cest dautant plus plaisant quand on arrive au bout et que ça sonne :) Pas mal de paramètres pour modifier le son, jen suis très content !

5 from 5 Super

Simple à monter, son efficace. Que dire de plus? La tonalité est un vrai plus et permet de vraiment colorer le son.
Bref cest très bon

5 from 5 Four is better than three

Previously I had the Bluelay pedal, so this is more like an update + set up differently. It does, what it is supposed to do and the build was straight forward.
There is a pop, when the pedal is turned on, but this might be a grounding issue due to my mistake in the finishing process. Something, that I will resolve later on.
Overall - simple and great delay pedal!

5 from 5 Does the job, meets my expectations

It does what a Delay pedal does. Really happy with it.
