The Foxx - Octave Fuzz kit

Super fuzz. Genau das was meine Ohren hören wollen. Man könnte eventuell den octave switch mit einen footswitch umtauschen das man alles mit den Füssen bedienen könnte. Das Kit ist auch einfach zum zusammenbasteln.

Amazing kit! Ive been exploring different fuzzes and this one might be the one for me. Gets close to the wall of sound of my big muff, but without the extra noise (the slightest string noises coming though constantly). Instead it sounds just slightly gated, and the sounds can go from velcro rip to a spitting fuzz. The octave works well too. A great kit, easy to assemble (I used a slightly bigger enlosure for ease of mounting) and no extra background noise whatsoever. I am loving this pedal!

Sounds good and the build is quite easy. Is it me or the octave switch doesnt seem to do nothing? The octave is always on...

Very true to the original. Aggressive and scooped in the mids.

Some octave fuzzes have too much gain, this one can be dialed down to taste. Obviously the octave loses strength then. The Tone knob offers a very wide range of sounds.

It can be used with the octave on for a monster fuzz with lots of bass and scooped mids. The latter are less desirable for me but YMMV.
With the octave on it cuts through like a razorblade.

The build was quite difficult for me. Populating the OCB is easy enough, although some of the box capacitors are big and they ended up slanted.
The problem was all the offboard wiring. All the pots, switches and jacks are wired separately and theres no PCB for the footswitch. Wiring up a 3PDT for true bypass is always a chore.
The 125B enclosure is very tight, I had to cram the PCB in and theres no space for a 9V battery.
Luckily it all worked out the first time around.

Suggestions for the next revision: use a larger enclosure, PCB-mounted pots, replace the toggle switch with a footswitch+LED and maybe add a toggle switch to add mids, I believe this can be accomplished by swapping some capacitors. Basically turn it into a Danelectro 3699 :)

Assez bluffant pour le prix. Attention : diode germanium EXTREMEMENT fragile (j’en ai cassées 3 sur 4, même en faisant attention).remplacées par des silicium type 1N4148. Du coup pas possible de comparer avec une pédale full germanium. En revanche le son est juste énorme. Pas encore testée avec des humbuckers mais sur une strat, le son est fuzzy comme on aime. Je recommande.

The pedal is fairly easy to assemble (maybe not quite beginner-friendly) and the sound that comes out is very rich.
You have to learn how to use it at first, but after that it gives you great sounds.
