5 from 5 Really good Phaser

HI guys,
this kit is really good sounding, and easy to built like a lot of products there, even if there is lot of parts.
Dont be afraid of the bias setting and all the voltage values, just make the kit, plug your guitar in and turn your amp an, and slowly turn the trimpot. We make sounds, use you ears !!!

On this kit , I replaced the deep pot with a 430K resistor, and i remove the R15 one (see the schematics) to match the script logo version.

4 from 5 Good sounds from a good kit

This is one of the newer models with a PCB for the 3PDT switch and PCB-mounted pots. In my opinion, this is a great upgrade to the older modles with long wires. The new versions are relatively simple to put together and there is no excess of wires to make things messy.

I got the PCB about a week later than the rest of the parts, so I had to wait for a while before beginning the project. Everything else was in order, except the bias trimmer I got was way too large for the board. Luckily I had an extra PT6 size 250k trimmer at home, so I was able to assemble the kit. I also added the R15 mod as a switchable option and replaced the jacks with sturdier Switchcraft ones.

Good sounding phaser. Compared to a Small Stone, this is brighter and a little less space-y/dramatic. I did not find much use for the deep pot, might as well just replace that with a resistor, since I prefer to keep it at max. The R15 mod smoothens things out a bit, its simple enough to wire into a switch.

The kit is just BARELY small enough to fit into a regular B-size box (w/o battery). I would recommend going for the 125B, since it was a real squeeze to fit everything into a 1590B.

4 from 5 Bon phaser

http://musikding.rocks/wbb/index.php/Thread/418642-Phaser-schwingt-zu-langsam/

4 from 5 Cool, true to the original but a bit noisy

Really cool sounding kit, Id say identical to the original Phase 90. The only complaint is about its background noise: if you plan to use it with clean or light crunch no problem, but with high gain it coul be a little bit too noisy (Ive built other Musikding kits, such as fuzz, od ecc.. and theyre dead quiet, this is far more noisy), at least compared to the original MXR.
Overall good sounding pedal, suggested kit!

4 from 5 Very simple, very good

Excellent fx for an occasional use, very good sound.
The wet volume is way higher than the dry one. The 33k resistor in R1 can be replaced by a higher value to make it more balanced (I put a 120k and it seems ok like that).

4 from 5 Bon circuit, complet, qui sonne

4 from 5 Decent phaser

It sounds ok, I wish the phasing effect was stronger. The Depth knob is useless to me, Id be interested to know if I could replace it with a resistor of a different value to make the effect stronger.

The build is great, as always the instructions are easy to follow.

4 from 5 Very good phaser, even better with R28 mod

I bought this kit to have a classic Phase 90-inspired phaser in my pedal toolbox.

The sound is very good. The R22 bias has to be tuned very precisely to get the desired sound. It basically tunes some sort of PWM ratio which makes a different pulsating shape. I tuned mine so that the ratio is roughly 50%, so that the phase sweep is nice and even, rather than too pulsating.

I implemented the so-called R28 mod (look it up on YouTube). The name comes from the name for R15 in the original design. It consists in leaving R15 out. Definitely recommend. The result is a smoother sound because this removes a feedback loop in the circuit. You can either put it on a toggle switch (like I did) to have both flavors available. If you decide to have it permanent, be sure to put solder in the holes where R15 would have been mounted because these holes make connections with other parts of the circuit.

It seems the indication for the four 2N5952 transistors is the wrong way on the circuit diagram. I initially put them as shown, flat side facing downwards on the diagram. But I did not get any phasing effect, only the dry sound. So I had to revert them, flat side facing upwards. I am removing a star for this reason.

Other than that this kit is perfect. Thank you Musikding!
