A Fantastic Kit!

I see there are not many reviews on this product, so I though Id share my impressions.

First of all, all the parts came in neat zip-lock bags sorted by type, and resistors even had hand-written values on them! That was a particularly nice addition, and saved some time with google searching resistor value chart.

Second, the PCB was produced in a high quality, and was easy to solder. Maybe I just have a decent soldering iron, and maybe it was because I used solder wire with flux already in it, but it was a pretty pleasant 4-hour solder I had.

Third, I did not encounter any problems with the build, since the manuals provided were clear, and I do not really have anything negative to say. It was just as I expected, and a great overall experience...

... of course, if we exclude the incompetency of DHL shipping... thanks to that it took 9 days (not 5-7 as promised) to deliver. Though, that is no fault of Musikding. At least in my opinion.

P.S. Also the compressor works great with bass, and does not do much, but exactly what I need it to do - increases a bit of highs in the tone (for those sweet Tool riffs and awesome harmonies), cuts a bit of negative hiss, and adds some sustain to the note, while also cutting the extensive bass, when jamming some stoner music on E strings high frets.

A new companion for me

I needed a versatile but simple-to-use compressor pedal, so I got myself this kit.

I spent a fun ~5 hours building this pedal. Elements were neatly packed and the general instructions attached were enough to know what steps to follow.

This is only the 2nd pedal Ive built. The first pedal was a Der HardOne. Although the pedal is more complex and there are more pieces and elements to solder, the build was straightforward. Im happy to have gone for the kit — for the HardOne I went for the PCB and bought components separately, which I think took much more time than if I went with the kit.

After building, the pedal worked right away. I used it during a band rehearsal this week, and its a great addition to my guitar sound. It makes the MXR Badass Distorsion fuller and longer, and the EHX Op-Amp Big Muff punchier and more articulate. Seems to sound great for funk strumming as well. Overall this is a compressor pedal Im happy to have on my board. The compression is as expected and good sounding, as far as I can tell! The 2-knob setup makes it fairly easy to dial.

The only missing piece would be a drilling template. I prefer buying pre-painted boxes and drilling them myself, because I dont like the raw metal look. I was able to find a template on the old Musikding website which was at scale, although measurements. The PCB designs expect pot holes to be at a specific place, and I ended up a little off there, so the pots are a little angled. I also had to file the IN jack inner ring so the backplate would close completely, as I drilled the IN jack hole a few milimeters too close to the backplate.
